“That which yields is not always weak.”
― Jacqueline Carey

Questions that I am frequently asked during initial consultations are:  what are my rates and do I take insurance.  These of course make a lot of sense, and I want to provide the information here so that you can have this information available to you as you make your decision to work with me.

Rates:
Below you will find my rates for the services that I provide.  I have based these rates on a number of factors including affordability and accessibility for my clients, my own costs, my experience and training, etc.  Therapists are often encouraged to highly value their clinical expertise and training and pass that along to their clients.  I absolutely value my years of experience and the training that I have, and continue to receive, but my hope is that I will always be able to create an affordable and accessible option for my clients that allows them to see me.  Daniel Wordsworth, the president of the American Refugee Committee, said the following in a speech: “Being a human is wondrous, but more than that, each person is a thing of wonder. Each person has a unique gift, but more than that, it is in the giving of that gift to the world that we become fully human.”  In my work as a speech-language pathologist, I see it as my mission to provide innovative, efficacious, and cost-effective services that assist each individual in expressing their unique gifts and talents in the world while addressing those areas that interfere with that expression.

minutes and 1 and a half hours depending upon
                                                                                                                       the client’s needs)

Private Pay:

I am a private pay therapist.  I don't accept any insurances, and don't work with or submit claims to any insurances.  If you want to see if your insurance or health savings account will cover or pay for the services billed, please let me know and I will put the information that is needed (most often a tax id number, diagnostic codes, and CPT or treatment codes) on your monthly bill.

I do not deal with insurance companies directly as I am not submitting a claim to them.  If you are working with your insurance or health savings account, they may ask you to submit paperwork (which would be the treatment plans that you and I will develop).  I choose not to bill insurance because this allows me to maintain the autonomy and flexibility to provide the types and breadth of services that I do in my office.  I may not change my goals as often as an insurance company may like, or may not document change the way that an insurance company may want to show progress.  Again, this is one of the reasons I choose to accept only private pay clients as I want my focus to be on your treatment, not on the documentation necessary to get me paid.  That tends to be a distraction that takes away from what should be my primary focus, my client.  My goal in treatment is to create a safe, effective form of treatment that we can work together with to help you move forward toward your goals.

If you do plan to submit a claim to your insurance company, you may want to check ahead with them to see what they may require.  As a private pay speech pathologist, I don't seek a physician's order to begin therapy, and many insurances may require this for reimbursement.  You may wish to check this out with them ahead of time.  You may also wish to see what they may require around evaluation and documentation to see if their requirements may fit what we will be doing together.

I never want my rates to create a hardship for someone, or be a deterrent for someone to attend treatment with me.  If they would create difficulties for you, please talk with me during the consultation process.

A few final notes: I don't currently take credit cards as payment.  I may in the future, but do not currently.  Also, my rates are subject to change as my costs may need.  I will always try to make my services available at a rate that is as affordable and accessible to my clients as I am able.  Finally, I try to bill around the 15th of the month following the one that is being billed for.  That has seemed to work out for most individuals.
